To prevent excessive warping or cracking after you start using your wooden table, a cool environment (18-23 degrees C) with a relative humidity of 38-45% and a little air movement is said to be ideal for wooden objects in general. Gradually change the thermostat settings as the seasons change. A sudden change in temperature or air humidity is the worst thing that is possible, because moisture is sucked out of the material far too quickly or pushed into the material, causing the wood fibers to come under tension. Excessive heat and dryness can even cause cracks and splitting. Avoid extremely hot plates and excessive water that can stand for a long time. It is also important to remember that placing your piece in front of a window in direct sunlight can dry it out and cause cracks and tears!

The most important causes of damage to wooden furniture are careless use and environmental conditions. Again, keep in mind that movement, like small cracks in the surface of your live edge piece of furniture, is normal and part of the nature of the wood. You can notice the lifting or cracking of the epoxy or resin fillings; this is due to the natural movement of the wood and it is normal and is not covered by the warranty. Movement / small cracks around the marrow (center) of the tree, knots and natural imperfections in the wood is normal.

Light is a natural enemy of all organic materials; it is especially harmful for wood because the damage is cumulative (meaning that it gets worse over time) and is therefore irreversible. Sunlight can make light wood dark and bleach dark wood. It is also important to NOT place hot mugs or plates directly on the wooden surface, as this can damage the finish. Sunlight influences the finish of the surface, making it discolored, cracked or brittle. If you leave your wooden piece in direct sunlight, for example, large windows with lots of sunlight will damage your table over time. It can warp, split or crack. We recommend blocking the sunlight or covering your piece if you plan to constantly expose your piece to direct sunlight. We also advise against placing your wooden furniture on underfloor heating in underfloor heating systems. This is also important with wooden legs. The constant heat on the wood absorbs all the moisture that remains in the wood and will further promote splitting / tearing / warping.

We give no guarantee on tables placed on floor heating.

Solid wood furniture care

Basic care

Use only a clean, soft cloth to clean your furniture.

Always wipe in the direction of the grain. If necessary, moisten the cloth with water and then use a dry cloth.

Do not use other liquids, as this will damage the finish. Solvents and alcohol are particularly bad.

Clean up spills immediately. If the wood absorbs liquid, it can crack or even warp.

Your furniture, made from natural material, is influenced by changes in temperature and humidity in your home. Hardwood furniture does not take on excessively dry air. Because the moisture loses, the wood shrinks and small openings may appear in places such as table tops.

This does not affect the strength of your furniture. When the humidity in the area rises, these holes will disappear as the moisture in the hardwood is recovered.

Do not place your furniture near ventilation or ventilation openings, radiators or direct sunlight for too long.

If you have leaves for a table, store it in an environment with a similar humidity level to your table (not in the basement).

Always use coasters and warm pads for glasses and hot dishes.

Sunlight causes a second unwanted effect, it can discolor the finish. So again, try to avoid direct sunlight. Maintenance / Charcuterie / Cutting board care Do not immerse your board in water Use a damp cloth and mild soap to wipe the board Periodic adjustments with mineral oil may be necessary (every few months)
